《 課程簡介 -- English 》
This course focuses on the skill areas of Listening and Speaking two days a week and Reading and Writing one day a week. This course is open to:
1) New students who achieve at least 64 on the Michigan Placement Exam
2) Students who have completed E7, received instructor recommendation, AND achieved at least 150 on TOEIC Bridge. The TOEIC Bridge requirement may be waived upon recommendation of the Academic Director.
Students will develop a deeper understanding of business practices and principles while improving their ability to use English.
Teaching methods reflect the view that language is learned best through negotiating meaning. Throughout the course, students imagine they are employees in an international company and work in teams to create and market new products. They participate in a variety of activities that involve speaking, listening, reading and writing to acquire and exchange information, express opinions, and share ideas and feelings. Because students may also benefit from explicit knowledge of language rules, some classes will include lessons on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Students also develop strategies to read and write efficiently in English. TOEIC practice will also take place. For additional practice, students will also receive an account for Macmillan TOEIC Practice Online
