課程簡介     Introduction
本課程提供學生必要之技能訓練以達到具備基礎英文溝通能力之目標。本課程分為兩大部分:一週兩次的整合性之課程(聽、說、讀與寫)及一週一次的英文閱讀課程。
本課程期望學生能學會如何有意義地運用英文來溝通。為了加強學生的字彙能力及使其深入了解英文聽、說、讀、寫等技能的句型結構,課程係以採用主題單元的方式呈現。上課全程以英語授課,搭配不同活動,提供學生參與討論、表達及分享意見的機會。本課程亦幫助學生培養英文閱讀技巧及訓練學生具備以簡單英文句子表達意思的寫作能力。

《 課程簡介 -- English 》
This course provides students with basic skills they will need to succeed in E3. The course is divided into two language skill area groups: Listening / Speaking, which meets twice a week, and Reading / Writing, which meets once a week.

《 上課要求 》
出席評分:
修習本課程學生應準時上課,並踴躍參與課堂各項學習活動。鼓勵同學積極以英文參與課堂討論及活動。同學應每日注意虛擬校園公告,並遵循任課老師之各項考試、作業及出勤評分之相關規定。進學英語課程出席部分之評分方式如下:在2天課程(英文會話)中每缺課一次扣10分;在1天課程(英文閱讀/寫作)每缺課一次扣20分。(出席計算乃自同學選課成功後,應上課之第一日開始計算。)

其他說明:
-依本校學則第四章第三十一條,學生因故不能上課,請准事假、病假者為“缺課”…。
-若學生因懷孕、分娩、或撫育三歲以下子女之需要等,而核准之事(病)假、產假,不予扣分。(有相關需求者,須逕向學輔中心申請,由系所發展中心通知教師同學之請假日期。) 請准公假者,亦不作缺課論,不予扣分。(欲請公假者須逕向學輔中心申請公假證明,並由學生交付該證明給 老師請公假。)
-除上述因素,學生因其他不可抗拒之原因缺課,得出示具公信力及可驗證之證明文件,向任課教師申請該堂缺課不扣分,至多三次(堂)。惟不可抗拒之原因及免扣分之決議與否,完全由該堂任課老師核定。該任課教師有向該出示證明文件單位做驗證查核之權利。

Students are expected to come to class on time and to participate in all activities. Participation includes being prepared for class; cooperating; using English; and following classroom rules. Students should check Virtual Campus each day for classroom announcements. When absent, they should call another student for the homework assignment.
Attendance:
Attendance is recorded from the first day a student registers for class. The attendance portion of the overall grade is reduced 10% for each missed Speaking/Listening class and 20% for each missed Reading/Writing class. At the instructor’s discretion, up to three absences may be excused if supported by appropriate, verifiable documentation.
Exception is made for students who are pregnant; taking maternity leave; taking care of a child three years of age or younger; performing national service or service to CCU. All such claims must be verified by Counseling Center.

《 報告要求 》
Students are expected to complete all homework assignments on time.
學生必須依照規定之格式準時繳交作業。

《 課程評分方式 》
平時成績 (Daily) 50% (quiz & homework 30% + attendance & participation 20%)
考試成績 (Exams) 50% (midterm 20% + final 20% + oral 10%)

Midterm Exam:
The midterm exam may be administered online. It will include both the general (Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading) and the listening sections.

Final Exam:
The final exam may also be administered online. The online test includes general (Vocabulary, Language use, Grammar and Reading) and listening sections.
The final oral exam will be administered during the Listening/Speaking class. It asses spoken language studied throughout the course.

Students are encouraged to actively participate in discussion as class may be one of the few opportunities to practice English.
由於英文課是大部分學生僅有使用英文機會的地方,因此學生應該積極參與課堂討論

《 其他要求 》
Outstanding students may be recommended to skip one or more levels. Eligibility includes, but is not limited to, instructor recommendation and achieving at least 80 on the final grade.
英文程度且成績優異者,得由任課教師推薦跳級。資格除了各細項成績符合指標外(含小考、作業、出席、課堂參與及期中考成績表現特優),同學該學期的英文期末總成績必須達到至少80分才得以跳級。
1. Students with any condition, either permanent or temporary, that could affect class performance, should advise the instructor so that accommodations can be made.
2. TOEIC Bridge Test will be administered later in the semester.
於學期中,學生將於課堂時間進行多益普及測驗校園團考。
