This course introduces students to the foundational and contemporary theories in communication studies. It covers a broad spectrum of theories, including early linear models of communication, media effects theories, uses and gratifications, agenda-setting, cultivation theory, critical and cultural approaches, and digital media frameworks. Through lectures, readings, case studies, and class discussions, students will develop the ability to critically analyze communication phenomena across various contexts—including mass media, interpersonal communication, organizational communication, and digital platforms. The course emphasizes theoretical literacy and its application in both academic and real-world settings.
