This course aims to introduce the theory of cooperative economy and
its contemporary applications, with a particular focus on the
opportunities and limitations of social enterprises.
Cooperative economy is an economic model centered on human
needs, rather than maximizing capital profits. It emphasizes
conscious coordination and mutual assistance among producers,
consumers, and workers, achieving social equity and sustainable
economic development through democratic management and
resource sharing.
Cooperative economy and social enterprise are innovative business
models that prioritize social value while considering economic
operation. They aim to address social issues such as income
nequality, disadvantaged employment, and community development
through mutual assistance and market mechanisms. The two are
often collectively referred to as "social economy," and they have a
highly complementary and interdependent relationship.
