英美法導論係為介紹英美法之基礎科目，台灣為歐陸法系國家，因此在法律制度、法學研究方法和法學思維等，與英美法系國家均有顯著之不同。
經由歷史與國際之演變發展，大陸法系與英美法系之互動也漸趨頻繁。
我國許多法律之制定與修正，亦逐漸吸收英美法之觀點與學說，成為比較法學研究和立法政策的重要參考來源，因此本課程之教學目標即在使學生對於英美法之基礎理論有一概括性之了解，以及學習初步之英美法學研究方法。
本課程為全學年之課程。上學期授課內容主要以美國法律體系、憲法與法學教育與研究方法作為主要探討內容。下學期則著重於實體法律如憲法、契約、侵權、證據法的討論以及英文案例之研讀。
本課程目標如下:
1.認識英美法之基礎概念
2.著重美國法律制度之介紹並探討與我國法制之差異
3.研讀重要判決，訓練邏輯思考，提升分析與解決問題的能力
4.提升法律英文能力
《 課程簡介 -- English 》
This course is designed for general introduction to the Anglo-American Law. The legal institution, civil law system, in our country is very different from common law countries in many aspects, such like the court system, the legal research method as well as the legal thought.
Under the globalization, the interactions between common law countries and civil law countries are more and more important. Many status and cases in our country are now deeply affected by western legal thoughts, and provides comparative legal analysis for legislation and public policy.
This course provides students the general understanding of American legal institution and case-based research method.
The first semester will focus on the history and development of Anglo-American Law; American judicial and court system, common law principles, Stare Decisis, American legal education and professional responsibility, and jurisdiction issues.
The second semester will focus on the case brief and analysis in various aspects, such as constitutions, contacts, torts, evidence, and criminal law & procedure.
